The Ribolla grape is extremely popular in Italy yet extremely overlooked in the United States. Grown in Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeast Italy the Ribolla's crisp notes are pleasantly refreshing in the warm summer days and nights. 

La Tunella Ribolla glistens hues of translucent cornsilk and goldenrod color in your glass. The nose begins with top notes of mango, middle/top notes of apple and apricot. This Ribolla is wonderfully full bodied with layers of summer fruit flavors. Nectarine, kiwi, white peach and meyer lemon. The finish is long and leaves a pleasant note of orange blossom honey.

Although no longer flipping houses, you can rest assured he is always on the verge of FLIPPING OUT. However, I wonder if having Gage, who is in charge of Jeffrey Lewis' company Business Affairs AND Jeff's boyfriend around makes him more mellow. Selfishly for entertainment purposes, I sure hope not! This episode doesn't disappoint, he attends what he thought would be a private dinner party; turns out not only are there a lot of people, as Jeff said "This is like a Meet & Greet. That's work. And I get paid for that." He was ambushed, or as he stated "Sucker-punched" by a woman who paid for his hotel lodging only to have Jeff cancel the engagement...Yes, this is going to be good...

Feudo Maccari Saia- Nero d'avola

This is a sensational Sicilian wine, especially for the cost. Made with 100% Nero d'avola grapes Saia is almost an opaque dark orchid blended with deep violet color hues in your glass. The nose has aromas of black currant, marion berry and mint. The fragrance compliments the flavors of dark plum, blueberry, blackberry fruit with hints of allspice and nutmeg intermingled. The finish is lush, full bodied, silky and long with a lingering taste of red cherry and white pepper.

During the summer months I usually make my grandfather's Sicilian Sangria recipe but last night I tried something different. I'll share it with you and hope you try it and love it as much as I did.

Sexy Sicilian

One bottle of Nero d'avola

One cup of Campari

One cup of pulp-free OJ

Mix and put it in the freezer for about an hour then serve.

It's a good thing Dru told Mary she would do whatever she wanted her to do. I'm no interior decorator/designer but I do know I wouldn't put a GYM right off the entry way. WHO DOES THAT?! ...Dru, apparently.

This Soave has hues of almond and cornsilk in your glass. From the Veneto region in Italy, made with 100% Garganega grapes. On the nose you will have the aroma of pure citrus peels, meyer lemon, blood orange and pommelo. Upon your first sip you feel a surprising silkiness to it, mineral-like. The flavors are much more subtle than the fragrance it gives us. Hints of cherimoya, mandarin and pepino melon lightly coat your palate. It leaves with a soft honey-like finish. 

Most American wine novices have never had or even heard of Soave. However, if you enjoy Sauvignon Blanc I urge you to try this Italian wine.

I loved this show from it's season premiere! Admittedly, I hated Mary and Martyn [their personality, not their designs, no one can deny their amazing talent] in the first few episodes but all of sudden Martyn began to "charm me". Last week's episode I turned mid-way through and all of a sudden, liking Mary kind of snuck up on me and now I adore her.

We are used to Mary McDonald taking control, doing what SHE wants to do, not what the CLIENT wants her to do. We also are used to her clients loving what her completed design. "The client doesn't know what they want. I know what they want."<A direct quote from Mary> Turns out, she's always right. This is a dry Rose, not bone dry, yet not sweet enough to be considered off-dry. The color is a blend of sheer, rosey pastel pink and salmon in your glass. The nose has bold fruit and soft florals. Your sense of smell is delighted by both bing and rainer cherries, plum flesh with a hint of a bouquet of carnations. The nose prepares you for the fruity ride your mouth will be on in your first sip. I don't like this one little bit. The only thing keeping me from a dark depression because of the ending of Mob Wives this Sunday is they have already signed on for a second season. As a "Housewives Reality TV Junkie" I find Mob Wives at the top of their game. It's raw and real emotion with raw and real issues. They don't live on the Upper East Side. They don't have mansions the size of the Chelsea. They aren't "ladies who lunch"... I started the season liking all the wives for the most part but slowly and surely I lost affection for Karen Gravano. Especially with her ongoing [even if on again off again] fight about Drita marrying Lee [Karen's ex-boyfriend]. Love, Love Drita. Renee grew on me and Carla's so easy going how can you not like her?

Well, it appears the Karen/Drita saga will come to blows this Sunday. It is going to be the fight heard around the [Staten] Island. Sunday, June 26 at 8p/EST on Vh1 After the season finale we'll have to get our "Mob Wives Fix" from their tweets on Twitter and wait for the Season 2 Season Premiere.

We are sipping Friulano from the Friuli northerneastern region of Italy. The Ermacora Friulano glistens with transparent wheat and light honeydew hues in your glass. The aroma embodies summer with top notes of kumquat, mandarin, lilly of the valley and lilac blending into the bottom notes of thai basil and thyme. A little rounder and fuller than an Italian Pinot Grigio the Friulano coats your palate with layers of fruit blends: apricot, quince and starfruit. Giving way to layers of culinary herbs like sage and verbena on the finish, which is a long clean mineral/stone-like finish. The Friulano is great alone or with antipasti. It is perfect for summer sipping.

Pumpkin Seeds Renee?

Renee stopped the wives eating and drinking at brunch when she announces her ex-husband Junior is going to move in to her home until he goes to prison. Mouths at the table were still open in shock, disbelief and awe when Renee, very sincerely says she knows he loves her because he brought home pumpkin seeds for her. To which, Karen says "PUMPKIN SEEDS RENEE?! I mean really!" My favorite "Mob Wife", Drita says "I'd be flicking <pumpkin seeds> them at him!" [One of the many reasons I love her!] ...to make matters worse Karen let it slip that he was there last night and then confessed he'd already been there for a week! Drita put the truth out there, as Drita always does and said, "You're in love with him that's the bottom line. It's not for <your son> AJ it's for YOU."

It's no wonder, Mob Wives have signed on for a second season. It's real, it's family, it's friendship, it's drama, it's humorous, just plain good TV! I love it! So this Sunday, SIP Dolcetto d'Alba, WATCH Mob Wives on Vh1 and TWEET along!

Deep dark cobalt violet in your glass this almost full, medium bodied Dolcetto is begging to be enjoyed with family and friends. Like with Amarone and Barolo it needs decanting for a few hours before truly enjoying the taste and aroma of this wine. Upon your first pour you'll notice the aroma of burnt dark berries mixed with sweet star anise. Enzo Boglietti's Dolcetto has a smooth and silky mouthfeel with power packed flavors of  figs, dates, bilberries and currents. Slightly tannic with hints of gogi berry and cardomon that seem to  linger on the finish.
